I find it interesting to go back to these oldest recordings of songs that (I assume) remain in the repertoire. I sang a year directed by Bill A. & four directed by Brian, and Al’s direction is different than either. The club seems to humm differently back then (or maybe that’s the wow & flutter of the recording). The 40’s club seems to emphasize the suspension on “through” at the end less than during my time when perhaps we overemphasized it. I kinda like it audible but just there in passing, like these guys sang it.
