Commentary

I’ve been trying to locate the lyrics to “Boilermaker Betty” for some time, now. I’m mostly interested in the first line (Boilermaker Betty is ??????????). Most of that line is not clear on the recording.
Any suggestions where I can find the lyrics would be greatly appreciated.

Educated guess: Hoosier drawl “Boilermaker Betty is the best girl of them all” or “best girl by a mile”?

“Boilermaker Betty is a basketball ma, she’s built on the Bayous…”?

Here’s my best guess on the song:

Boilermaker Betty is a basketball (ma?)
She’s born on the (bias?) and she’s 7 feet tall
Her dribble is exciting and her form is divine
She’s Boilermaker Betty and she’s mine all mine

Boilermaker Betty
Boilermaker Betty
Boilermaker Betty and she’s mine all mine
She’s built like men, with feet size ten
She jumps real high just like any guy
Boilermaker Betty
Boilermaker Betty
She’s Boilermaker Betty and she’s mine all mine

Sone folks say she’s forward but she’s always on her guard
The center of attention with two feet like a yard
Her figure’s made too round for points
(But laid it on the line?)
She’s Boilermaker Betty and she’s mine all mine

Boilermaker Betty
Boilermaker Betty
Boilermaker Betty and she’s mine all mine
The things that she would (lender?) if it wasn’t for her gender
She’d surely help the ratio if she had the coaches say-so
Boilermaker Betty
Boilermaker Betty
She’s Boilermaker Betty and she’s mine
She’s mine, all mine

Thanks for the input, guys.  It’s good to know that I’m not the only one with question marks. I’m going to try my luck at the library. Hopefully the sheet music is archived, somewhere.  It’ll be my quest!

After the refrain:
Boilermaker Betty is a basketball moll (“moll” is archaic term for woman of shady character - like “skank” today)
She’s built on the bias, and she’s seven feet tall
Her dribble is exciting - her form is divine
She’s Boilermaker Betty, and she’s mine all mine!

Thanks, Tom and Paul and Mike. Putting it all together, then:

Boilermaker Betty, Boilermaker Betty,
Boilermaker Betty and she’s mine, all mine, all mine…

Boilermaker Betty is a basketba-ll moll.
She’s built on the bias and she’s 7 feet tall.
Her dribble is exciting, her form is divine.
She’s Boilermaker Betty and she’s mine, all mine.
Boilermaker Betty (Betty), Boilermaker Betty (Betty),
Boilermaker Betty and she’s mine, all mine.
She’s built like men, with feet size ten!
She jumps real high, just like any guy!
Boilermaker Betty, Boilermaker Betty,
Boilermaker Betty and she’s mine, all mine, all mine…

Some folks say she’s forward but she’s always on her guard;
The center of attention with two feet like a yard.
Her figure’s made too round for points,
But lay it on the line,
She’s Boilermaker Betty and she’s mine, all mine.
Boilermaker Betty, (Betty), Boilermaker Betty, (Betty),
Boilermaker Betty and she’s mine, all mine.
The dean said she would lend her if it wasn’t for her gender!
She’d surely help the ratio if she had the coaches say-so!
Boilermaker Betty, Boilermaker Betty,
Boilermaker Betty and she’s mine, she’s mine, all MINE!
