Lost Chords from Sonya

Christmas came early today with a package from Sonya (Stewart) Eddy, Al’s daughter. Sonya has been in touch via email and was kind enough to send some treasures she had in the attic. About a dozen records going back to 1937 extend the time span covered by PVGCDB. I’m looking forward to digitizing them. Fingers crossed everything works! A few of these predate vinyl; they are noticeably rigid and heavy, probably from the shellac era.

Below is a video unboxing of these gems. Thank you, Sonya! (backing music: The Lost Chord, 1949. Beneath the video are some detail shots of the individual records.

Score! What a great find! That’s getting back to the Fred Waring national competition days. Looking forward to hearing what’s on them.

Hey Paul, awesome haul from Sonya! Remember also I found multiple listings in the Purdue archives for items (including records) that I assume are sitting in containers somewhere. Might be worth trying to harvest… archive search
