Remembering Larry Rothenberger, class of 1969 1947 - 2024 Obituary  |
Let there be…video
After graduating from Purdue, I set out to make a documentary about the Glee Club. The PVGC was singing at Carnegie Hall that year, and I met a Purdue grad and filmmaker (forgot his name) who gave me some suggestions for camera techniques, lighting, interviewing, and style. My goal was to provide a first-person overview of the Glee Club as an organization, supported by interviews, concert and rehearsal footage, as well as bus-loading, Sirs meetings, backstage antics, etc.
Brian Breed, Julie Ricciardi, and Jayne Lawless helped with some video editing software purchases and also provided interview connections to Clubbers from the Al Stewart era. Alas, marriage and career forced my attention elsewhere, and needless to say, the project stalled.
I also realized I’m not Ken Burns.
In spite of the shortcomings of the filmmaker, the content is actually pretty good, particularly the interviews. I plan on releasing a new video or interview regularly over the next several weeks.
My first interview is with Mark Loepker, Hall of Famer and 1978 grad, who had 2 years with Al Stewart and the remaining 3 with Bill Luhman.
Enjoy!
