Remembering Larry Rothenberger, class of 1969 1947 - 2024 Obituary  |
30 years ago this month: PVGC Centennial
Thirty years ago this month (Saturday, April 3rd to be exact), the Glee Club celebrated its centennial with a special performance at Elliott Hall of music, featuring performers from prior eras, combined voices of PMO, and special remarks by President Beering. Chris Rininger writes:
Before the amazing and huge-scale 125th PVGC celebration in 2018, there was a Centennial Celebration in 1993. This recording is of a 92-93 club set performed at the event, a couple combined voices songs, and finally a set of alumni solo & specialty group performances. I still have glassware from the event…
I found an advertisement for the concert in the Purdue Exponent archives.
And Chris provided this image of the audio cassette program:
The audio of the centennial performance is available in the pvgcdb archives. Highlights include:
- Performances by Hall of Fame alumni: Holger Schmidt-Hamman, Len Pohlar, Al Hemmer, Mark Loepker, and Bryan Lane
- Beering presenting president’s medal to the Glee Club
- Beering dedicates Purdue Hymn as university alma mater
- Chris Clarke is inducted into the Hall of Fame
- Performance of L’Amour Trilogy
- Early performance There Will Always Be A Song
Time flies! If you were there, please share your memories.
(Thanks to Chris Rininger for uploading the audio and cassette imagery)
