Support for the Ukrainian People
In this recording from First Nighter 1978, Glee Clubber and Ukrainian-American Andrew Werbiansky sang a popular folk song from his homeland.
With the daily updates chronicling the attack on Ukraine, many are compelled to help the citizens facing displacement, damaged infrastructure, and so much more. For those with ties to Ukraine, the heartbreak is even greater—as is the desire to help.
Kramarczuk’s in northeast Minneapolis (where I live) was founded by two Ukrainian immigrants in the mid-1900s and continues its founding tradition today as a local celebration of Ukrainian culture and food. They updated their website with links to organizations seeking support in their efforts to aid the humanitarian crisis.
If you’d like to lend your support, please consider the curated list our friends at Kramarczuk’s have compiled.
- Special fund at the National Bank of Ukraine
- NGO that arranges life-saving equipment for Ukrainian soldiers
- Hospitallers working at the frontline
- Ukrainian Women’s Veteran Movement
- NGO that assists internal refugees
- NGO that aids traumatized children
- Foundation that assists healthcare and education in eastern Ukraine
